ARO / WSO Course Application or AROC

Our Courses

Aerodrome Reporting Officer (ARO) / Work Safety Officer Training (WSO)

Course: Aerodrome Reporting Officer/Work Safety Officer (ARO/WSO) training – (Recognition of Training)

Cost: On application

Venue: As agreed with Trainer

Duration: Refer to the Training Schedule below or as agreed with trainer. Duration: Three (3) days 

Class size: Minimum 6 students

Pre-requisites: No previous experience in the aviation workplace is necessary. Applications for training must be made using the JASKO Enrolment Form.

Course Presentation:

Study will include three days of interactive tuition in a classroom environment and covers the following topics as required by Part 139 MOS and CASA’s Advisory Circular.

  • Serviceability of Aerodrome
  • Serviceability of lighting system
  • Writing NOTAMS
  • Inspection of Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS)
  • How to Temporarily Displace a Threshold
  • Regulatory hierarchy
  • Roles and responsibility of Aerodrome Reporting Officer
  • Roles and responsibility of Work Safety Officer
  • Navigation aids
  • Runway visual aid assessments
  • Airside vehicle control
  • Airside access
  • Bird and wildlife harassment procedures
  • Logbooks

Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate (AROC)

An AROC is required for ground personnel who use aeronautical band radios.

Info: An AROC is required for all required to broadcast on VHF frequencies in an aeronautical environment. Training includes English language proficiency testing.

Half day course includes:

Face to face training covering,

  • Regulatory requirements
  • How radio waves travel
  • Responsibilities of radio operator
  • Operation and types of radios
  • Aviation speak and phonetic alphabet
  • Emergency procedures
  • Pilot Activated Lighting

Assessment consists of a short, written exam as well as the completion of an aviation English Language Proficiency assessment (ELP). Students must achieve ELP level 4 or higher to receive their AROC.

The JASKO trainer collects all appropriate paperwork and lodges your application with Civil Aviation Safety Authority who issues the licenses.

ARO/WSO Recurrency Course

Our refresher course is delivered face to face, on site and is designed to expand on the knowledge and experience that the participants have already gained.

Maintenance and Familiarisation of PAPI Lights
